HEMATOLOGY

Hematology is the science that describes blood diseases.

Blood; It is the vital fluid in the body that carries oxygen, nutrients, hormones, vitamins and antibodies to the tissues and removes carbon dioxide and waste materials from the body. The blood, which is in the ‘circulatory’ system consisting of the heart and vessels in the body and also called the water of life, has also been the subject of a science.

Hematology diagnoses and treats diseases in six main areas. These are benign hematology in which the treatment of benign diseases is performed, malignant hematology in which the treatment of hematological cancers is performed, hemostasis/thrombosis in which coagulation disorders are treated, bone marrow transplantation, plasmapheresis treatment in which the liquid part of the blood is changed, and blood banking.

Hematology is among the fields of medicine where significant progress has been made in recent years. Treatment options and the number of clinical trials have increased. Treatment of hematological diseases such as lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemia is very important.
